Source-aligned release history for Perplexity to Obsidian, including the current version 3.1 behavior
The Chrome Web Store lists Perplexity to Obsidian version 3.1.0, updated July 5, 2026. The entries below describe the current implementation and correct older documentation where behavior has changed.
Version 3.1.0 — July 2026
- Added or expanded generated-image downloads to a sibling
images/folder. - Attachment downloads are enabled by default for standard current-thread, opened-tab, and bulk exports.
- Space subdirectory organization is enabled by default.
- The popup and Batch Export page expose the current filename, YAML, Sources and Related Questions, Space, attachment, skip, and delay controls.
- Batch Export supports All Threads, Computer Tasks, and From Spaces.
- Export history and local failure records support repeatable backup workflows.
- Incremental skip logic allows a previously exported conversation to be exported again when its last activity is newer.
Current attachment links use normal relative Markdown links and image syntax. They are not Obsidian [[wiki links]].

- Added support for preserving Perplexity document-style content in Markdown.
- Attached document content can be embedded under an Attached Documents section with the matching answer.
- Embedded document content is not necessarily downloaded as a separate original file.

- Added rate-limit handling and clearer progress or error messages.
Current rate-limit behavior is mode-specific: regular record export stops on 429, while the multi-Space wrapper can wait 60 seconds and retry the current Space up to three times.
