Selective Export

Inline Selective Export adds a checkbox to each answer toolbar on a standard Perplexity /search/{id} page. Each checkbox represents one complete Q&A entry: the user prompt and its matching Perplexity response.

Use Custom Export Preview instead when you need to select a prompt and response independently.

Supported page

Inline checkboxes are injected on:

https://www.perplexity.ai/search/{id}

They are not injected on Computer Task pages.

Select Q&A pairs

1. Open a standard Perplexity conversation.
2. Refresh the page after installing or updating the extension.
3. Check the control beside each answer you want.
4. Continue selecting entries in the same conversation.

Floating action bar

After the first selection, the page shows:

• Selected: N
• Clear
• Copy
• Export

There is no Select All control or keyboard-shortcut menu in the current inline implementation.

Copy

Copy places the selected conversation content on the clipboard as Markdown.

The clipboard output contains the selected message content. It does not include YAML frontmatter.

Export

Export downloads the selected Q&A entries as a Markdown file. The generated filename uses a -selected.md suffix and follows the current Save Path and Space organization where applicable.

The note uses the same # You and # Perplexity structure as the standard exporter. It does not add fictional fields such as selection: true or selected_count.

If Sources and Related Questions are enabled, those sections are generated from the selected responses when the source data is available.

Attachment limitation

Inline Selective Export downloads the Markdown file only. It does not call the companion-file downloader for uploaded files or generated images.

If the selected Markdown contains relative asset links, those assets may not exist locally. Use current-thread, opened-tabs, or Batch Export when you need the attachments/ and images/ files.

Troubleshooting

Checkboxes do not appear

• Confirm the URL starts with /search/.
• Refresh the Perplexity page.
• Confirm the extension is enabled.
• Wait for the answer toolbars to finish rendering.

Action bar does not appear

• Select at least one checkbox.
• Return browser zoom to 100%.
• Refresh and select again.

Copy fails

• Allow clipboard access if Chrome asks.
• Try Export instead.
• Check whether another extension blocks clipboard writes.

Markdown is empty or incomplete

• Confirm the intended checkboxes remain selected.
• Wait for the Perplexity response to finish loading.
• Reload the page and retry.
